The political conflict over the Land of Israel isn’t actually about the physical real estate of Israel.
It’s not even about Jerusalem.
It’s much narrower.
… narrower than the old city of Jerusalem
… even narrower than the Temple Mount
… still narrower than the actual temple
… the place where an offering was made
… where Abraham offered his son
… where God provided the ram found in the thicket
… it’s the place where God chose to put HIS name
That’s the center of the conflict.
That’s why all the nations hate Israel— seeking to divide the land.
… because GOD has put His name there
… it’s about HIS inheritance, plan, purpose
Israel (even in her unredeemed estate) is a testimony to all nations that there is a God in Heaven to whom they all must answer. The nations hate that reminder because it means they have to answer for their actions.
Every nation will come against Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:1-3). But the Jews remain God’s chosen people (Psalms 105:8-11) so it’s all part of His prophetic plan to fulfill His eternal covenant with them.
… try messing with Jerusalem and God will mess with you (historically proven)
Why?
Because GOD put His name there.
Right now, we’re seeing Israel become almost an obsession of the nations.
Why is there such conflict?
Very simply, it’s because there’s a God in Heaven who is fulfilling His Word. And the nations hate this reminder about having to answer for their actions, but… God’s Word will have the last word.
Psalms 122:6
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
they shall prosper that love thee.”
This means we pray for the Prince of Peace to return to rule and reign from Jerusalem.
As well, in this verse:
… “Shalom” in Hebrew is the word peace
… it doesn’t mean absence of war
… it doesn’t mean a removal of conflict
… it means wholeness & completeness
The understanding is, we pray for the:
… wholeness of Jerusalem
… completeness of Jerusalem
… eternal purpose of God to be fulfilled
It’s our responsibility to pray for the outworking of God’s paternal purpose.
It all makes sense when you realize that:
… Jerusalem is central to God’s plan and purpose
… the word “prosperity” is to know more of Christ
Genesis 12:3
“And I will bless them that bless thee, and
curse him that curseth thee: and in thee
shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Zechariah 12:1-3
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Psalms 105:8-11
8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:
